Pool Rules and Regulations
The BTWSTC Pool Rules and Regulations have been established to provide a safe recreational environment.
Please review these rules before visiting the Bent Tree West Swim & Tennis Club. We recommend you download a copy of the pool rules to review with all members of your family. If you have any questions about any of these rules, please contact anyone of the board of directors. The following rules apply to all areas of BTWSTC Pool:
General Rules
1. SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT. For you safety and the safety of our members, please do not talk to the lifeguards unnecessarily, throw objects or water at them when they are in the lifeguard stations. The rules and requests made by lifesaving personnel must always be followed.
2. All members and their guests must register at the front gate before entering the pool area. Members may be required to show identification. There is a guest fee of $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for guests 12 and under. All guests must be accompanied by a member at all times.
3. Acceptable swim attire must be worn by patrons on the deck and in the water.
4. Pool attire is not permitted in the clubhouse. Please dry off and cover up. Clubhouse access is not permitted from the pool area.
5. Animals are not allowed in the building or pool area, with the exception of guide dogs. Guide dogs are allowed on deck, but not in the water.
6. Candy, food or beverages are not allowed except in designated areas provided for eating and drinking. No glass items, chewing gum or smoking is permitted anywhere in the facility. Members must clean up after themselves. Trash receptacles are provided throughout the pool area.
7. Persons who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics will be denied admission.
8. Children who are not toilet-trained and less than four years old will be allowed in the pool only if they wear a disposable swimsuit diaper and a swim suit. Cloth or disposable diapers are not accepted.
9. The use of sunscreen is encouraged, and patrons must shower before re-entering the water.
10. Spitting, spouting or nose-blowing in the pool is strictly prohibited.
11. Dangerous practices are prohibited. Patrons must not run on decks; climb, sit or jump from fences; dive in shallow water, swim in the diving areas; double bounce or crowd diving boards; or dunk, push, pull or unnecessarily splash swimmers or engage in popping towels. Abusive language will also not be tolerated. Any such behavior will be addressed with a warning and should the behavior continue will be grounds for removal from the pool area.
12. No one who is ill, has been recently injured, has a skin infection, open wounds, or other infection may enter the pool.
13. Emergency procedures must be observed. Swimmers must leave the pool area immediately upon the signal or request of the lifeguards or club management.
14. The BTWSTC Board of Directors may modify, add or suspend rule as deemed necessary. Members will be notified of any changes.
15. The BTWSTC is not responsible for any items lost or missing. For lost and found items, please see the lifeguard on duty.
Swimming and Diving Rules
16. Any child under the age of six years or who cannot swim must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person, in a swim suit, at all times including in the water, on the deck and in the restroom. While in the water, the parent or responsible person must remain within arms reach of the child.
17. Children between the ages of six and nine must be with a responsible party. A responsible party is defined as a person fourteen years of age or older who has the ability to swim. Supervision is defined as having the child who is between six and nine years old within arm's reach at all times.
18. Children of ages ten and older are permitted in the BTWSTC pool without supervision, but are subject to removal by the club management on duty if they create a health or safety risk.
19. Small toys, swimming accessories and flotation devices (water wings), snorkels and masks are permitted if approved by the Board of Directors.
20. All children and adults who appear to have ample swim skills may be asked to pass a swim test before entering deep water. Weak or non-swimmers must remain in shallow water no deeper than chest level.
21. No Diving, back dives, somersaults; "cannon balls" from the side of the pool or any other unsafe activities are not permitted. Diving is allowed only from the diving board.
22. Only one person is allowed on the diving board at a time.
23. No recreational swimming is permitted in the diving area, except during special swim times designated by the lifeguards on duty.
24. Recreational swimming is not permitted for children during the 10-minute break period at the end of each hour. Lap swimming only by adults is permitted during these times. There will be no lifeguard supervision during this time.
25. Lying on the deck close to the edge of the pool where swimmers may trip over sunbathers is dangerous. Sunbathers must lie or sit at least three (3) feet away from the edge of the pool.
